Whoever browsed good motoring press, must have read about it. In scores. By setting a new record lap time in its class on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, it was crowned as the new king of the FWD realm. Sure, that’s marketing… However, it’s the same thing in practice. Simply put, Mégane RS is up there with the best front wheel driven cars we have ever laid our hands on. Renault developed it like it used to do in its prime. Here’s a car with unique handling feel. Thanks to rigid and yet very legible chassis, it drives with endearing lightness, all eager for tail-happy games. And then there’s this turbocharged 2-litre in-line four, delivering performance which ticks all the boxes, anywhere, time and time again. The style? For a pure-bred sports car, all you need is there, but then again it looks best all messed up with road dirt at the finish of a special stage… umm, we meant road section.
