Those who know better about fast Hondas, get no doubt: it’s unlikely for this model to survive in any acceptable condition on the second-hand market. And still it’s there: Honda Civic Type-R in mint collector’s state of maintenance. Which brings us back to the times when driver’s cars were not only fast but also intuitive in control. The street racing icon, big city night prowler in which it takes as much skill as guts to really deliver. And deliver it will, rewarding the driver with a feeling that all but vanished from today’s motoring: the sense of complete man-machine unity and direct feel of the laws of physics. In fact, it’s more like a dedicated track car than like a plain hot-hatch with just some hints coded in its looks. This makes it fit perfectly in the Club’s funcar fleet: what we collect in this and in the youngtimer groups are cars that, whatever happens to modern day motoring, will always be there to charm us with how they look and drive.
