In our times of marketing buzz, devalued symbols that once had greeted really the most illustrious of models, nowadays often mean next to naught. It has become rather hard to tell which car truly deserves a name it proudly bears, but the latest Aston Martin Vanquish we recently greeted in our fleet is undeniably one. Its name in question is S Ultimate. The Ultimate leaves little room for interpretation – it simply means the highest, the mightiest, the best and the unsurpassable. The crown in the Vanquish model line, the showcase of power and potential of the manufacturer from Gaydon, England. The masterpiece of applied arts. And the one which boasts what classic supercars once had and what set them apart from regular sports cars: the irrational and uncompromising nature, the purpose of their existence, explicitly and boldly expressed – very different from practical mainstream cars. Vanquish Ultimate is very unpractical, very expensive and very fast. Political trends? It drowns them in high-octane fuel from the exhaust of its twelve cylinder naturally aspirated V-shaped engine. And it never feels obliged to prove anything. Rather, you have to think about whether you are ready for it.
